The Office of Admissions at the Lodewick Visitors Center has openings for two roles.
These positions are only open to undergraduate students at the Storrs campus.
The Husky Visitor Information Program (VIP) role is the tour guide program which is the "face of UConn" giving campus tours at all daily tours and admissions events. Husky VIPs are also trained to provide the highest quality customer service to everyone interacting with UConn including answering phones, working reception desks in the Lodewick Visitors Center and Tasker Building, and working check-in for campus tours and admissions events.
The Husky Insider role is for students who are interested in recruiting students to UConn from underrepresented populations, including prospective students who may hold identities including but not limited to first-generation college student, Black/African American, Native American, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian American or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander, and LGBTQ+ by ensuring these students receive dedicated time and attention to assist through the college campus visit, application, and enrollment process.
Description of Role: VIPs play an important role in welcoming guests to campus.
· Tour Guide: Students lead daily campus tours and information sessions from the Lodewick Visitors Center and larger venues on-campus. Tours are offered Monday – Saturday on a schedule which meets the demand of prospective students and campus visitors.
· Reception: Greets campus guests and students at the Lodewick Visitors Center and Tasker Building.
· Phones: Answers phone calls and answers questions or directs the call to someone who can assist the caller.
· Event Check-In: Provides support for event registration, logistics, and check-in.
· Special Projects: Supports the Office of Admissions with special projects throughout the year.
Description of Role: Husky Insiders play an important role in the recruitment of underrepresented students.
· Group Tours / Regular Tours: Whenever possible, give group tours for CT alliance schools in the college recruit program with special training and presentations oriented for first-generation students. Write postcards to all students who visit campus to stay in touch. Support the daily campus visit program by giving tours when necessary. Required to work 5+ weekend tours per semester.
· Call Campaigns: Throughout the year, Husky Insiders call prospective students to provide concierge service and direct help and guidance during the enrollment process.
· Student Chats: Provide one-on-one student virtual chats with prospective students that they may sign up for. Can provide application help, information about UConn and more.
· Virtual Application Workshops: Host virtual information sessions and application workshops to help student through the application process.
· Multicultural Recruitment Events & Travel: Participate in event support for all multicultural recruitment event programs, travel to local events
